The Federal Government has unveiled a plan for Australians to receive $25,000 to build or renovate a home starting today (4 June).
This new HomeBuilder package aims to boost the construction industry, which was hit especially hard due to the coronavirus. The Government will provide $688 million for the program.
PM Scott Morrison hopes HomeBuilder will start a “tradie-led recovery to help spark the economy as Australia emerges from the effects of COVID-19” and save thousands of jobs.
The program offers a grant of one-time cash payments to eligible homeowners and buyers, from now until 31 December. It aims not only to help Australians with their homes, but also to “support the more than one million workers in the sector including builders, painters, plumbers and electricians across the country.”
