12-month extension to the Building Apprenticeships Commencement
The Federal Government today announced a full 12-month extension to the Building Apprenticeships Commencement. Businesses that sign up a new apprentice or trainee between 5 October 2020 and 30 September 2021 will be eligible to receive the 50% wage subsidy for 12 months from the date of sign up, up to $7,000 per quarter.
The extension will assist building and construction businesses to engage new workers and meet increased work demands from Home Builder and fast-tracked civil projects, while also providing employment opportunities young people throughout Victoria.
The Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements was one of the COVID-19 skills measures announced as part of the $4 billion in apprentice wage subsidies.
