Tips for a relaxing holiday break

It feels like this holiday season couldn’t have come at a better time. For some in Australia, holiday plans look a little different this year, but we all need a well-deserved break. We’ve all had a long year, so we hope you’re able to take this time to relax and switch off.

We’ve gathered a couple of tips that might help you enjoy your break:

📺 Find your entertainment

A long break is a perfect time to dig into a new hobby. If you like to tinker, get out in the workshop or garage and switch off. If you prefer your entertainment on-screen, find a new series on Netflix or catch up on some old favourites (we liked this list of 10 bingeable classics). Read that book you got for Christmas, or spend some time in the garden or golf course.

🧒🏽 Keep the kids happy

If you’ve got kids, you know how tough it can be to keep them entertained. Here are some things you may not have thought of:

  1. For the little ones, a scavenger hunt can get them outdoors to explore.
  2. Experience nature — the zoos are open again but if you can’t make it in person, Melbourne Zoo is still bringing the zoo to your living room with virtual zoo tours!
  3. For the older ones, it can be fun and productive to learn something new. Get into something productive with YouTube music lessons or cooking classes.

💪🏾 Stay fit (physically and mentally)

We still might not be used to getting out and about, so make sure to prioritise movement and exercise. It can be easy to spend a little too much time on the couch — particularly over a long break! Take the time to get out and exercise. Try a free workout app like the Nike Training Club — no equipment required.

And make sure to take care of yourself mentally as well. Read our 5 tips for managing your mental health.
