On Sunday, the Victorian Government announced how the state plans to reopen, slowly, with a steady easing of restrictions from now through mid-July.

Today (18 May), the Government followed up the announcement by launching the Building Works package, which could be a massive help to the construction industry.

The Government will provide $2.7b for infrastructure projects in order to boost Victoria’s economy. Premier Dan Andrews has promised “hundreds and hundreds of projects supporting thousands of families.”

The package aims to create 3,700 direct jobs from the projects, with hopes to give a boost to a wide range of trades including carpenters, maintenance workers, bricklayers, plumbers, concreters, carpet layers, and more.

As before, handwashing, practising safe hygiene habits, and physical distancing of 1.5 metres remain essential.
